Alexandre Kalache is the president of the International Longevity Centre (ILC) Brazil and co-president of ILC Global Alliance. He formerly served as director of the World Health Organization Department Ageing and Life Course and as associate professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Department of Health Policy. He was also a clinical lecturer in the Department of Community Health at the University of Oxford. He is especially interested in the epidemiology of aging, cancer epidemiology, public health implications of aging; health promotion, development and aging, and the longevity revolution. Current publications include "Global Population Ageing: Peril or Promise?", World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on Ageing Society, 2012. He earned a medical degree from the University of Rio de Janeiro and an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in epidemiology from the University of London.
