Roosevelt Skerrit is the minister for Education, Sports and Youth Affairs of the Commonwealth of Dominica. Under his leadership, Dominica now has a new state college, a national youth policy, a revised school curriculum for primary and secondary schools, an approved national literacy plan, and amendments to the Education Act that include early childhood education. He has led national delegations to various overseas forums including the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States, CARICOM, and UNESCO. Minister Skerrit is an executive board member of UNESCO, an executive member of the Dominica Labor Party, and chief advisor for the Movement for Social, Educational, and Cultural Advancement. He received a degree in education from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, and a degree from the University of Mississippi, USA.
