The University of Texas at Austin, USA

From a young age, I've always been a person full of dreams. I was born in Houston, Texas to two wonderful parents who had traveled the world, and little did I know that I would long to do the same. Both my parents are pastors of a very multicultural congregation, where I learned to appreciate and cherish the things that make people different from one another. I began seeing the world with them, first in England, then Mexico, and later the Czech Republic. I was exposed to various cultures and traditions that built me into the person I am today. During this time of travel, I placed much of my effort into my studies, knowing that it would be the key to achieving my goal: to be an international correspondent. I went to Clear Horizons Early College High School, where I graduated with an Associate's Degree and high school diploma simultaneously. From there, my sights were set on the University of Texas, where my interest in international affairs and journalism only increased. I began thinking about what it would be like to report from places such as Latin America or the Middle East. As a strong Christian, I have always been interested in the Middle East, but I never understood the richness of the region or its nuanced complexities until visiting Israel in 2012. While on the trip, I developed a deeper connection with the different peoples that lived there, and realized that I could share their stories with the world. I made the decision to be a foreign correspondent in the Middle East, and am taking every step to make that dream a reality.
