Lauren Caruso

Lauren Caruso is a Communication Studies major, anticipated Public Relations minor planning to graduate from the University of Rhode Island in May 2017. She is from Rhode Island where she has lived for the majority of her life. Lauren is excited that her first trip outside of The United States will be to The Salzburg Academy. She looks forward to meaningful interactions with people from around the globe. Lauren has had the unique opportunity to develop her intercultural communication skills at The University of Rhode Island through a distinct Professional Partnership with The Initiative To Educate Afghan Women, a not for profit organization located in Providence, Rhode Island. The Initiative has provided an undergraduate education in The States to ninety, soon to be ninety-six Afghan women. Her first hand experience with The Initiative over a one-year period has been instrumental in developing her organizational and leadership skills driven by open and vibrant interpersonal communication. As a Teaching Assistant, Lauren was instrumental in guiding and assisting students as they created high quality deliverables for The Initiative's website and various social media platforms.

Lauren has a passion for music, mostly singing, and is teaching herself how to play guitar. She has performed the United States National Anthem at various sporting events and has explored recording through a local recording studio. Lauren has a song that is copy written, that song is in the United States Library of Congress. Lauren has been studying voice and musical theory for five years and is looking to improve her knowledge in musical theory.


Although she would love to pursue music full time, achieving a degree at a collegiate level is very important to her. Once she completes her education, Lauren would love to work for a sports team or major company/corporation. Lauren is a quick learner and is inspired by working with others to create organic solutions to pressing issues, which confront individuals and organizations. Lauren's ideal career path is therefore based on a personal commitment to bring joy and honor to others in everything she does while working to improve upon an organization's ideas, image and effectiveness in the world.
