Robert Long

ROBERT LONG is a program director in Philanthropy and Volunteerism, at the W.K.

Kellogg Foundation in Battle Creek, Michigan. His responsibilities include developing

and recommending projects for funding, and administering funded projects. Before

joining the Foundation, Dr. Long served as McElroy Professor of Youth Leadership

Studies at the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, where he also coordinated

the Division of Youth and Human Service Administration. Dr. Long is a founding

member of the International Society for Third-Sector Research, a member of the

National Organization of Human Service, the American Education Research

Association, and the Association of Leadership Educators. Dr. Long received an

M.A. in program and facility administration and a Ph.D. in adult higher and continuing

education from the University of Illinois at Urbana. He previously served as a working

group facilitator for Salzburg Seminar Session 317, Non-Governmental Organizations in

Democratic Societies: Roles, Responsibilities and Obligations, 1994, and was a faculty member

at Salzburg Seminar Session 330 Building and Sustaining Democracies: The Role of Non-

Governmental Organizations, 1995.
