Rakan Abd Al-Nasser Mazloum, A Syrian majorless Student at the American Univeristy of Beirut (AUB), transferring to civil Engineering next semester. He attended two years at Tishreen University as a civil Engineering Student 2011 to 2013 before joining AUB. To be able to join the Faculty of Engineering at AUB, Rakan had to enroll in the Freshman program at AUB and he completed it with a GPA of 85. Despite of all problems that faced his academic career, Rakan's ambition helped him to stay strong and do everything in order to achieve his childhood passion about tools and engineering. He doesn't let any obstacles get in his way; He sacrifices and keeps working towards his dreams. Each frustration inspires him a motivation to try again and success. Rakan has applied to Salzburg Academy on media and global change because he believes that this program will be a very successful academic and social experience that will help him now and later in various fields. He sees that the diversity of cultures and nationalities of students makes it also a place to communicate and benefit from others. On the other hand, Rakan has many interests in sports ( gym, football, and tennis), fashion, sciences, and economics. When he isn't in the mood, he prefers to drive alone and listen to some music. Moreover, he had many experiences in volunteering and charity events. He was also a member in AUB outdoors for 2014 and 2015 which is the largest festival in Lebanon that held annually in AUB.
