Arve Ofstad

Arve Ofstad is head of the Poverty Reduction Strategies Unit in Norway’s Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD). He joined NORAD in 2002 as a senior advisor. Mr. Ofstad is a development economist with more than twenty-five years of experience with policy advice, research, evaluation studies, and consultancies on aid and development. He also has experience as an aid manager and United Nations official. From 1993 to 1995, Mr. Ofstad served as advisor with the Norwegian Commission on North-South and Aid Policies with the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was the United Nations’ resident coordinator and United Nations Development Programme resident representative in Sri Lanka from 1995 to 1998. Prior to joining NORAD, Mr. Ofstad was research director and senior research fellow at the Chr. Michelsen Institute.
