Alvaro Laiz Garcia

Photographer; Co-Founder, ANHUA, Spain

Alvaro Laiz is a photographer and co-founder of ANHUA, a collective of documentary photographers and visual artists, who focus on concerns related to human rights, anthropology, economics and the environment. He conceives photography as a tool to give civil society in post-conflict zones a voice, explores the environment, costumes and traditions of those people at risk of exclusion - usually topics and voices ignored by mass media. His photographs have been published in international media, such as the New York Times, Forbes, Days Japan, National Geographic and The British Journal of Photography, among others. Mr. Laiz holds an M.A. in visual arts from the Universidad Pontifcia de Salamanca, Spain.
