Ricardo Komatsu


Ricardo Komatsu is professor of geriatrics and gerontology and associate dean of education at the Marília Medical School (FAMEMA), Marília, Brazil. He is also chairman of the Center of Japanese-Brazilian Studies at FAMEMA. His research interests include health professions education, epidemiology of chronic diseases, psychogeriatrics, and imaginary and social representations of health. In 2000, he was awarded the national prize from the Brazilian Medical Education Association for an article on curriculum change in Brazil. Formerly, he was the chairman of the São Paulo State Section of the Brazilian Geriatrics and Gerontology Society. Dr. Komatsu earned an M.D. from FAMEMA, an M.Sc. in clinical epidemiology from the Universidade Federal de São Paulo, and is currently working on a Ph.D. thesis in education at the Universidade Estadual Paulista.
