Rajul Pandya-Lorch

Rajul Pandya-Lorch is director of the 2020 Vision for Food, Agriculture, and the Environment initiative of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), Washington, DC. This global initiative seeks to identify solutions for meeting world food needs while reducing poverty and protecting the environment. Before taking her current position, she was special assistant to IFPRI’s director general, Per Pinstrup-Andersen. Her research has focused on the trends and prospects of global food security and on policies to alleviate and prevent food insecurity, poverty, and environmental degradation, with a special focus on Sub-Saharan Africa. In 1996, she was awarded the Best Paper Prize for her article “Food for All in 2020: Can the World Be Fed Without Damaging the Environment?” in the journal Environmental Conservation of the Foundation for Environmental Conservation. Ms. Pandya-Lorch earned a B.A. in economics from Wellesley College, Massachusetts, and an M.A. in public and international affairs from Princeton University, New Jersey.
