Peter Maassen is director of the Higher Education Development Association and professor at the University of Oslo, Norway. He is also a senior research fellow for the Center for Higher Education Policy Studies at the University of Twente, Enschede, The Netherlands, where he has worked since the organization’s inception in 1984, most recently as director and senior research associate. Dr. Maassen is a member of the Board of the Centrum für Hochschulentwicklung in Germany and editor of the book series Higher Education Dynamics. His current research centers on future scenarios for the use of information communication technology in higher education, new dynamics in South African higher education, and organizational adaptation in higher education. Dr. Maassen holds an M.A. in urban planning and political science from the University of Nijmegen, and a Ph.D. in public policy from the University of Twente. He is an alumnus of the Salzburg Seminar Universities Project second plenary convocation and fifth symposium in 1998, and was a Fellow of the Special Session Educational Reform in South Africa in 1996.
