Peter Laugharn (Co-Chair) is executive director of the Bernard van Leer Foundation, where he previously served as director of program development and management. The Bernard van Leer Foundation is a private Dutch foundation which works to enhance opportunities for children from birth to age eight, growing up in circumstances of social and economic disadvantage in approximately 40 countries, both industrialized and developing. Mr. Laugharn is a member of the Governing Council of the European Foundation Centre and chair of its International Committee as well as chair of the European HIV/AIDS Funders Group. Prior to joining the Bernard van Leer Foundation, he worked with Save the Children for eleven years. His posts included Mali field office director, West Africa regional director, and education advisor for Africa. Mr. Laugharn holds a M.A. in Arab Studies from Georgetown University, Washington, DC, as well as a Ph.D. in education from the University of London, UK.
