Pekin Baran

Pekin BARAN is vice-president of the Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (TUSIAD) and president of TUSIAD's Parliamentary Relations Committee, responsible for monitoring Turkey's EU reform process. He has been part of TUSIAD delegations for the last ten years, touring the EU capitals to meet with prime ministers, business leaders, academics, and the media. Mr. Baran is also chairman of Denizcilik Anonim Sirketi and its affiliated companies, a family-owned group established in 1952. The main activity of the group has always been in shipping, specializing in worldwide transport of dry and wet bulk cargoes. Mr. Baran is a member of the Turkish Chamber of Shipping, of which he was a founding member and its first chairman, and also a member of the Turkish Maritime Education Foundation. He is the vice-president of the Turkish-British Business Council and a board member of the Turkish-French Business Council of DEIK. Mr. Baran is a law graduate from The Faculty of Law in Paris, France.
