Nicholas Whyte is the head of Independent Diplomat’s Brussels office. He was previously the Europe program director of International Crisis Group, managing the organisation’s research and advocacy on the Balkans, South Caucasus, Moldova and Cyprus, and has also worked for the Centre for European Policy Studies in Brussels and the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia. He participated in the Northern Ireland peace process in the mid-1990s as the central election campaigns manager for the cross-community Alliance Party. He holds a Ph.D. from the Queen’s University of Belfast, where he is a visiting senior research fellow at the School of Sociology, Social Policy and Social Work.
