Muni Figueres (Co-Chair) is the former external relations advisor of the Inter-American Bank, where she was responsible for identifying issues and constituencies of strategic importance to the Bank. From 1990 to 1992, she served as chief of the Bank's Integration and Trade Development Division in the Economic and Social Research Department. Between 1986 and 1988, Ms. Figueres was Costa Rica's first minister for foreign trade, where she was responsible for designing a new foreign trade policy. As minister, she served as chief of the Costa Rican delegation to the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade Ministerial Meeting in Punta del Este. Ms. Figueres is also the former executive director of the Costa Rica Export and Investment Promotion Center, where she designed and implemented national investment and export promotion programs. She chairs the Board of LASPAU, an academic and professional exchange institution based at Harvard University. Ms. Figueres holds a degree in French civilization from La Sorbonne, France, and a master's degree in political science from the Universidad Autónoma de Mexico. She has served as a faculty member at several Salzburg Seminar sessions, most recently at the Special Session on Global Issues: Roles and Responsibilities of Adult Education, 2004.
