Monika Wohlfeld is the German chair in peace and conflict prevention and lecturer in security studies at the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies, Malta. Previously she was the deputy director of the Conflict Prevention Centre of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). She served as head of external cooperation of the OSCE and, prior to that, as senior diplomatic adviser to the secretary general. Her latest publications include an evaluation of the OSCE's Mediterranean Dialogue, (forthcoming) in the OSCE Yearbook, and a contribution to the MEDAC publication on Human Rights and the Conflict Cycle. She received a B.A. in political science and Soviet and East European studies and a M.A. in political science and strategic studies from the University of Calgary, Canada, and a Ph.D. in war studies from King's College London.
