Anthony Travers


Anthony Travers is director of the Greater London Group at the London School of Economics. He is also an advisor to the House of Commons Education & Skills Committee and to the House of Commons Public Administration Committee. Mr. Travers is a senior associate of the Kings Fund and was a member of the Audit Commission from 1992 to 1997 . Much of his research interest has centered on local government finance, leading to publications such as The Politics of Local Government Finance and Failure in British Government: The Politics of the Poll Tax. He is currently working on a comparative study of public transport governance in Paris and Berlin. Mr. Travers has also worked with PriceWaterhouse Coopers on two international studies of local government finance¬Ėone for the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, and one for the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions. Mr. Travers received an M.A. and the Jacobson Prize for Law from the Tiffin School, St. Catharine¬ís College, Cambridge University, United Kingdom
