Melis Behlil is an assistant professor and the head of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema at Kadir Has University in Istanbul, Turkey. She is also a founding member and a member of the Steering Committee of European Network of Cinema and Media Studies. Her research interests include production studies, Hollywood and globalization. In addition to teaching and other academic duties, she writes film reviews for various publications and co-hosts a weekly radio show. She is the vice-president of the Turkish branch of FIPRESCI (International Film Critics Association).She received a Ph.D. from the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis at the University of Amsterdam. Her dissertation, entitled Home Away from Home: Global Directors in New Hollywood, analyzes the contemporary underlying structures of Hollywood as a transnational film industry.
