Ms. May Rihani is senior vice president of the Academy for Educational Development (AED) and director of the AED Global Learning Group and the Center for Gender Equity. Her work in girls’ education includes research, policy assessments, innovative designs, systems analysis, and management of country programs. A selection of Ms. Rihani works includes Keeping the Promise: Five Benefits of Girls’ Secondary Education (2006) and Learning for the 21st Century: Strategies for Girls' Education in the Middle East and North Africa (1993). Ms. Rihani has been the co-chair of the United Nations Girls’ Education Initiative for the past two years. Ms. Rihani is a Fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar Session 447, Breaking the Glass Ceiling: Women in Politics and Business, 2007, and Session 465, Smart Change: Investing in Women and Girls-Leveraging Philanthropy for Global Impact, 2009.
