Mark Woolhouse

Mark WOOLHOUSE is professor of infectious disease epidemiology with the Centre for Infectious Diseases at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom. Professor Woolhouse has worked on a variety of infectious diseases systems, human schistosomiasis; verocytotoxigenic E coli in cattle; the epidemiology and transmission biology of foot-and-mouth disease in livestock, and trypanosomiasis in humans, cattle, and tsetse. He has published more than 150 scientific papers. Professor Woolhouse was a government advisor during the United Kingdom 2001 foot-and-mouth disease epidemic, for which he was awarded an OBE in 2002. He holds an M.Sc. from University of York, Heslington, United Kingdom, and a Ph.D. from QueenÂ’s University, Ontario, Canada.
