Margaret Ward

Director, Women's Resource and Development Agency, Belfast

Margaret WARD is the director of the Women’s Resource and Development Agency in Belfast. Previously she worked as assistant director at the Democratic Dialogue think tank in Belfast and as a research fellow in history at the Bath Spa University. Dr. Ward was a member of the executive of the Northern Ireland Women’s Coalition and actively engaged in producing policy manifestos, electioneering and engaging in talks with other political parties. Her recent publications include Irish Women and nationalism: soldiers, new women and wicked hags; Gender, Citizenship and the Future of the Northern Ireland Peace Process and Discourses in transition: Re-imagining women’s security. Margret Ward holds a B.A. in political science and philosophy from the Queen’s University of Belfast and a Ph.D. from the University of the West of England, Bristol. She is accompanied by her daughter Medbh Hillyard.
