Luzius Wasescha is the permanent representative of Switzerland to the WTO and European Free Trade Association (EFTA). In this capacity he is head of the Swiss negotiating team in WTO and chair and member of several WTO panels. From 2001 to 2005, Dr. Wasescha served as the chairman of the Trade Committee of OECD. He has been involved in defining the strategy and coordination of WTO Affairs in the Swiss Government. Having coordinated the Swiss Delegation in the Uruguay Round Negotiations, he was also responsible for the implementation of the Uruguay Round results in Switzerland. He was also head of the Swiss Delegation to the Energy Charter Treaty from 1997 to 1999. Dr. Wasescha holds lic. iur. and Ph.D. degrees in law from University of Lausanne.
