Laura Feuerwerker (Co-Chair) is project coordinator at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Brazil. In this position, she administers University support for investigation and intervention projects, and coordinates the programs that are related to changing initiatives in the field of health professional education in Brazil and other Latin American countries. Her areas of research are evaluation, health professional education, public policies, health policies, and health systems organization. From 1995 to 2000, Dr. Feuerwerker served as a consultant to the UNI Program, W.K.Kellogg Foundation, an initiative promoting collaboration between universities, health service providers, and community organizations. Previously, she was a faculty member at the University Hospital of the University of São Paulo, and director of a municipal health unit in the city of São Paulo. Dr. Feuerwerker has published in several medical journals in Brazil. She holds an M.D. from the Medical School of the University of São Paulo and a Ph.D. in public health from the Public Health School of the University of São Paulo.
