Larry Leslie is a professor at the Center for the Study of Higher Education at the University of Arizona, Tuscon. He has served as a consultant to many higher education organizations, including the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges, and has testified on several occasions for the U.S. Congress House Subcommittee on Postsecondary Education and the Ways and Means Committee on matters of higher education finance and related tax policies. Dr. Leslie has also conducted seminars for senior college and university administrators under the auspices of the National Center for Higher Education Management Systems. In 1989 he received the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Grenzebach Award for Outstanding Published Scholarship in Advancement, and in 1995 he received the Research Achievement Award of the Association for the Study of Higher Education. His most recent book (with Sheila Slaughter) is Academic Capitalism: Politics, Policies, and the Entrepreneurial University, (Baltimore, MD: Johns Hopkins University Press, 1997). Dr. Leslie earned a B.A. in chemistry from the University of Minnesota and an Ed.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. Professor Leslie is an alumnus of the Universities Project and was team leader of the consultant visit by the Visiting Advisors Program to Minsk, Belarus in 1998.
