Andrea Cuomo joined the Italian semiconductor manufacturer SGS Microelettronica as a system testing engineer and held various positions within the Monolithic Microsystems Division of SGS-THOMSON Microelectronics (now STMicroelectronics). In 1989, Mr. Cuomo was appointed director of strategy and market development and five years later vice president. As such, he was responsible for the headquarters region, corporate strategic marketing, and the advanced application labs. In 1998, Mr. Cuomo became vice president, in charge of the newly created corporate organization called Advanced System Technology (AST). Under his leadership, AST has played a key role in the creation of system knowledge to support ST's System-on-Chip (SoC) roadmaps. In 2002, he was promoted to corporate vice president, AST General Manager, and later on to chief strategic officer, supervising, amongst others, corporate legal affairs and intellectual property. In 2005, Mr. Cuomo also became executive vice president, following the formation of the ST Corporate Executive Committee. In January 2008, he was appointed to the role of general manager of sales and marketing for Europe, while continuing to manage AST. Mr. Cuomo studied nuclear science at the Polytechnic of Milan, with a special focus on analog electronics
