Jeanette Hofmann

Senior Researcher on Internet Governance, Department of Innovation and Organization, Social Science Research Center, Berlin; Advisory Member, UN Internet Governance Forum

Jeanette HOFMANN is leader of the program Internet Governance, a collaboration of Nexus and the Social Science Research Center Berlin, where she is also a research fellow in the research unit Innovation Organization and New Forms of Governance. From 1995 to 2000, Dr. Hofmann worked on the project group The Internet Cultural Area. She has taught at both the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany in the field politics and communication, and at the University of California, Berkeley, USA, in the Department of International and Area Studies. She has served on ICANN’s Nominating Committee, co-coordinated the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) civil society’s Internet Governance Caucus, and worked as a member of the German delegation to WSIS. Dr. Hofmann is a member of the advisory committee of the Internet Governance Forum, a member of the German Civil Society Coordination Committee and co-coordinator of Civil Society Internet Governance Caucus of WSIS, and deputy chair of the Academic Council of the German Federal Center for Political Education.
