Jean-Claude Trichet

Jean-Claude Trichet has served as president of the European Central Bank in Frankfurt am Main, Germany since 2003 when he was also elected chairman of the Group of Ten (G10) Governors. He is a former governor of the Banque de France, a position he held for two terms beginning in 1993, former alternate governor of the International Monetary Fund, and former Governor of the World Bank. Prior to this he served in several positions in the French Treasury Department including adviser to the Minister of Economic Affairs; adviser to the President of the Republic on industry, energy, and research; deputy director of Bilateral Affairs; head of the Development Aid Office; head of international affairs; and finally director of the Department. Mr. Trichet is a graduate of the University of Paris, the Institut d'├ętudes Politiques de Paris, and the Ecole Nationale d'Administration.
