Lisa MacHarrie

Lisa MacHarrie is an upcoming senior at the University of Maryland, College Park. She will be finishing her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and Asian American Studies in the fall of 2014. Currently, Lisa works as an undergraduate outreach and events intern for a non-profit organization, NAMI Maryland where she strives to connect with other community organizations in an effort to make mental health resources more widely available on college campuses. Lisa's passion lies within advocacy for minority groups. She hopes to improve the lives of individuals who are not afforded the opportunities they deserve.

Throughout her undergraduate career, Lisa has also conducted research on race relations and romantic relationships among interracial couples. Lisa has also conducted research on attraction and uncertainty among undergraduate students in the University setting. Coming from immigrant parents in the United States, Lisa intends to become a family and marital therapist for immigrant communities, specifically the Asian American community. Throughout her life, Lisa has dealt with cultural conflicts and hopes to educate future generations on minority cultures within the United States. Lisa hopes to see a future where minority groups in the United States are afforded the same opportunities as the majority, and where discrimination is no longer a topic that still exists.
