Pieter Vanhuysse is the professor of comparative welfare state research at the Department of Political Science and Public Management of the University of Southern Denmark. His research tackles the political sociology and comparative political economy of intergenerational equity, social policies and population aging. It has been published inter al. in European Journal of Political Economy, West European Politics, Public Choice, Journal of Public Policy, Journal of European Social Policy, Journal of Social Policy, and Social Policy & Administration. Professor Vanhuysse has co-edited Post-Communist Welfare Pathways (Palgrave, 2009) and Ageing Populations in Post-industrial Democracies (Routledge, 2012). His monograph "Divide and Pacify: Strategic Social Policies and Political Protests" in Postcommunist Democracies (CEU Press, 2006) was nominated for the American Sociological Association's Best Book Award in Political Sociology. He holds a Ph.D. from the London School of Economics.
