Nelson Bowman

Nelson Bowman III is the executive director of development at Prairie View A&M University, TX. As the chief development officer, he is responsible for managing major gift prospects, donor stewardship initiatives and the University's internal school-based fundraising program. In 2009, he oversaw the successful completion of the University's first capital campaign of $30 million. Mr. Bowman joined Prairie View A&M in 2005, following a fifteen-year career in corporate management. He is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). Mr. Bowman has presented on topics such as engaging diverse alumni and black colleges fundraising at several major conferences and is also the co-author of several books, including Unearthing Promise and Potential: Our Nation's Historically Black Colleges and Universities, A Guide to Fundraising at Historically Black College and University: An All Campus Approach and Engaging Diverse College Alumni: The Essential Guide to Fundraising. Mr. Bowman holds a certificate in fundraising management from the Center on Philanthropy, a B.A. in business management from Morehouse College, GA, and an M.A. in community development from Prairie View A&M University, TX.
