Graeme Atherton

Graeme Atherton is the head of Access HE, a UK based organization enabling the provision of support for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to enter higher education. He been active in the field of widening access to higher education ever since receiving a Ph.D from the University of Liverpool in 1995 before spending five years at Liverpool Hope University as associate dean widening participation. Dr. Atherton led the Aimhigher Central London Partnership before becoming executive director of the Aimhigher London West Central and North (WECAN) Partnership. He has also founded a new professional organization for the widening access to HE community in the UK called NEON (National Education Opportunities Network). Dr. Atherton is visiting professor in higher education and social mobility practice at London Metropolitan University, UK.
