Jacques de Larosière has had an extensive career in international organizations and the French administration. He was president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development from 1993 to 1998 and governor of the Banque de France from 1987 to 1993. From 1978 to 1987, he was managing director of the International Monetary Fund. From 1974 to 1978 he was undersecretary for monetary affairs in the French Treasury. He entered the French Treasury in 1958 where he worked mostly on international financial matters. Mr. de Larosière was an advisor to the chairman at BNP Paribas from 1998 until 2008 and is also president of the Observatoire de l'Epargne Européenne. He is a member of the Académie des Sciences Morales et Politiques of the Institute de France. He is Commandeur of the Legion d'Honneur and a member of the French Society of the Cincinnati. He studied at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris and he graduated from the Ecole Nationale d'Administration.
