Irene Ng

Writer-in-Residence at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, Singapore; Member of the Singapore Parliament

Irene Ng is writer-in-residence at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, and a member of parliament in Singapore. Before joining politics in 2001, she was an award-winning political correspondent with The Straits Times. Among many public portfolios, she has oversight of the Government Parliamentary Committees for the Foreign Ministry, the Defence Ministry, the Education Ministry and the Ministry of Information, Communication and the Arts. Ms. Ng holds an M. Sc. in international pelations from the London School of Economics and was awarded an honorary professorial fellowship at Edinburgh University.
