Huanming YANG is professor of genetics, and director of the Human Genome
Center, Institute of Genetics, at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing. His
research interests include the mapping and cloning of human genes, sequencing and
analyzing the human genome, human genome diversity, and evolution. As secretary
general of the Chinese Human Genome Project, Dr. Yang coordinates the Chinese
human genome sequencing program. He is secretary general of the Ethical, Legal,
and Social Issues Committee, and the Human Genome Diversity Committee.
Professor Yang is a member of a number of organizations including the Human
Genome Organization, the American Society of Human Genetics, and the International
Bioethics Committee, UNESCO. Dr. Yang has a Ph.D. from the University of
Copenhagen, Denmark.
