Heng Wing Chan

Chief Representative in China, Temasek; former Ambassador of Singapore to Thailand, Beijing

Chan Heng Wing is the chief representative of Temasek Holdings (Pte) Ltd, an investment company based in Singapore and wholly owned by the Singapore Ministry of Finance. His principal responsibilities include the management of government relations and relations with private enterprises. He is a recently retired civil servant, having spent most of his career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Information. He was ambassador to Thailand for four years and consul general to Shanghai before retiring from the Foreign Service earlier this year. Mr. Chan joined the Foreign Affairs Ministry in 1981, serving in Singapore's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York. He was press secretary to prime minister Goh Chok Tong before assignment to Hong Kong as consul general for five years at the time of Hong Kong's handover to China. Prior to his diplomatic career, he was also a television producer and commentator. A graduate in philosophy from the University of Singapore, Mr. Chan Heng Wing also obtained a post graduate degree from Columbia Graduate School of Journalism.
