Gilles Dussault

Senior Health Specialist (Policy), World Bank Institute, Washington, DC

Gilles Dussault is senior health specialist at the World Bank Institute (WBI), Washington, DC. In this position, he is focal point for the implementation of the WBI´s Health Sector Reform Program as well as the Sustainable Financing in Francophone Africa and in the Latin American and Caribbean Region. He coordinates and oversees the implementation of programs on population, reproductive health, health reform, and human resources development. Dr. Dussault also serves as professor and director of the Department of Health Administration at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Montreal, Canada. As a researcher, professor, and consultant specializing in health administration and human resources development, he has worked in many parts of the world, including Brazil, New Zealand, Italy, Portugal, and Switzerland. From 1974 to 1985, Dr. Dussault served as associate professor at the Department of Industrial Relations at Laval University, Quebec, Canada. He is chair of the Advisory Board of the International Health Program at the University of Georgetown, Washington, DC, and a member of the Advisory Board of the Institute of Population Health at the University of Ottawa, Canada. Dr. Dussault earned his Ph.D. in medical sociology from the University of London, United Kingdom.
