Gertrude Tumpel-Gugerell

Gertrude TUMPEL-GUGERELL (Keynote Speaker) has been a member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank (ECB) in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, since 2003. Prior to coming to the ECB, Dr. Tumpel-Gugerell held a number of key positions at the Austrian National Bank in Vienna including director of Area Corporate Planning and Management, executive director of the Economics and Financial Markets Department, and vice governor. Dr. Tumpel-Gugerell has served as member of the Economic and Finance Committee and chair of the Banking Advisory Committee of the European Union, and as a member of the International Relations and Banking Supervision Committees of the ECB. She also serves on the University Council of the University of Vienna where she earned a Ph.D. in economics in 1981.
