Geraldine Brookins is vice president for programs in Youth and Education and Higher Education at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. In this role, her responsibilities include policymaking, long-range planning, and financial management. Prior to joining the Foundation in 1997, Dr. Brookins held several positions at the university level, including as Gamble-Skogmo Land Grant Professor of Child Welfare and Youth Policy in the schools of social work and public affairs, with an adjunct appointment in child psychology at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Her leadership positions at the University included chair of the Youth Policy Task Force at the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs. Dr. Brookins also held numerous teaching and leadership positions at Jackson State University, Mississippi, including professor in the psychology department, and was the founder of the Jackson State Research Institute for Socio-Technical Problems. Currently, she chairs the Black Caucus of the Society for Research in Child Development, and the American Psychological Association Task Force on Poverty, Family Processes, and Child Development. She was a faculty member for Salzburg Seminar Session 353 on Sustainable Rural Community Development. Dr. Brookins received a doctoral degree in clinical psychology and public practice from Harvard University, Massachusetts.
