Digital Infrastructure Resilience: Fostering Growth and Confronting New Challenges

Online

Digital financial infrastructure is transforming society at breakneck speed and is providing a critical backbone for economies adapting to the COViD-19 pandemic. Modern digital infrastructure is driving productivity and growth, while providing systemic resilience and ensuring connectivity in times of social and economic shutdowns. At the same time, the systemic importance of digital infrastructure creates new risks and opportunities and is forcing regulators to confront outdated policy frameworks in ways that can more fully harness the benefits of innovation, particularly access to finance.

Building on the Salzburg Global Finance Forum’s ten years of thought leadership, this webinar examined the critical role digital financial infrastructure can play in accelerating resilience, fostering growth and addressing inequality, which is crucial in the times of COVID-19. The program also discussed existing institutional and policy gaps and addressed related risks around data security, privacy, and regulatory fragmentation.

Format

This moderated 1.5 hour webinar featured a panel of experts from different perspectives and provided interactive opportunities for all participants to pose questions via the chat function.

Participation

The webinar was open to all Fellows of the Salzburg Global Seminar as well as to a limited number of non-fellows interested in the topic (requests were sent to Antonio Riolino, Program Manager, via email to ariolino@Salzburg Global.org).
