Planning and Development in the Urban Community

Abstract

More than 50 students, mostly from Europe and North America came together for this Session to learn about urbanization and city planning from a distinguished Faculty in the field (see below).

Today at Salzburg Global Seminar, this very Session is vividly remembered not only because urban transformation is again one of the key issues our current programs address, but even more so because Fellows of this very Session founded the Salzburg Congress for Urban Planning and Development (SCUPAD) afterwards, which until today constitutes one of our most vibrant alumni associations.

While Salzburg Global regularly welcomes SCUPAD-members for meetings at their founding home Schloss Leopoldskron in Salzburg, the 2016 annual congress will take place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to discuss Cities Beyond Tools: Confronting Poverty & Climate Change.

Honouring Session 97 as the founding hour for our friends at SCUPAD, we are below sharing a few of the original session documents from 1965.
