Program Internship (Salzburg)

Program Internship (Salzburg)

Salzburg Global Seminar seeks self-motivated and pro-active interns to assist with program delivery, documentation and research at its headquarters at Schloss Leopoldskron, Salzburg, Austria.

Programs, a.k.a. sessions, are at the heart of Salzburg Global’s Program Internship. Program Interns play a critical role and work directly with the Program Team to prepare and implement each session.

All interns will also be expected to support the administrative functions of Salzburg Global Seminar and its programs.
Interns must be outgoing as they will need to meet and interact with our Fellows, be willing to contribute to day-to-day operational tasks, and be capable of using computers and IT effectively.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting Program Team in session planning preparations by researching potential attendees and institutions;
  • Attending sessions and supporting the Program Team by providing AV support (recording lectures, controlling the sound system, passing around microphones, showing visuals on presentation screen, etc.), responding to ad hoc requests and supporting all other operational facets during the session;
  • Assisting in preparing program directory, compiling the Welcome Packets and other program-related materials prior to each session;
  • Providing administrative support such as printing, copying, and mailing;
  • Attending and participating in session planning meetings and prepare notes to share with the wider staff;
  • Researching potential topics for future programs.

  • Recently completed or in the process of pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from an international relations program or a field related to one of Salzburg Global’s program areas. Where possible, interns will be assigned projects directly connected to their specific skills and interests.
  • A can-do attitude, ability to multi-task, and a willingness to work flexible hours, according to program needs;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English, including the ability to edit text;
  • Comfortable working with people from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds;
  • Proficiency in internet research and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
  • Enthusiasm for the mission of Salzburg Global Seminar.

German language skills are not required.

The internship is full-time for three months. The position is unpaid, but the successful candidate will be provided with free on-site accommodation at Schloss Leopoldskron, all meals and a return ticket for their country of origin, as well as excellent networking opportunities with the international participants of our programs.
