We seek a part-time intern for our institutional development department in the Washington DC office to assist with fundraising-related research and writing. Candidates must have the necessary paperwork for working in the United States. The intern reports to the Development Manager.

Graduate students, recent college graduates, and undergraduate rising juniors and seniors are welcome to apply.


Typical projects:

  • Conduct research regarding potential institutional and individual donors, summarize findings and make recommendations regarding follow up;
  • Write briefings to prepare executives for external meetings and fundraising calls;
  • Draft and review concept papers and grant proposals;
  • Assist with event planning and execution.

Helpful academic or professional backgrounds:

  • Non-profit management, fundraising and development, education, environmental science, international relations, journalism, German studies

Other requirements: 

The candidate must be able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with rapidly shifting priorities. Candidates must also be comfortable working with people in different time zones, from diverse cultural backgrounds and at all levels of the organization, including senior executives, in a creative, but formal and professional environment, e.g. business attire is required. Enthusiasm for the global mission, exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and internet research and Microsoft Office Suite skills are required. Experience working with databases, and demonstrated interest in Austrian culture are preferable.


This internship is based at the Salzburg Global offices in Washington, DC and does not include travel to Salzburg, Austria.
