Position description:
The Development Associate, Campaign and Individual Giving will be an integral member of the Individual Giving team, working in all areas of the department and with other staff in the Washington and Salzburg offices. The Development Associate will perform a range of activities designed to enhance the effectiveness and improve the results of Salzburg Global's individual giving efforts, including donor research and outreach, coordinating solicitations, and data management. Some work in the evenings and weekends may be necessary.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support the Director of Campaign and Individual Giving to plan and execute dynamic, mission-centered cultivation and stewardship strategies for individual donor prospects and renewals.
  • Research current and prospective individual donors, retrieving and summarizing available financial and biographical information, as well as updating the records within the database.
  • Identify past donors with potential capacity in database, conduct further research on their interests and capacity, and assist in scheduling donor visits to achieve fundraising goals.
  • Prepare bios and briefing materials for events.
  • Record and assist Finance team with all individual giving transactions including gifts received, receipts acknowledgements, notes from meetings, calls and visits into Raiser's Edge as well as run queries and reports. Record and track to ensure proper documentation, as well as draft and send acknowledgements in a timely manner.
  • Contributes to identify new prospects to engage in conjunction with Salzburg Global events.
  • Assist in data clean up and standardization efforts in the database.
  • Assist in the execution of direct mail appeals and corresponding e-appeals.

Desired skills and experience:

  • Minimum two years of professional development experience related to supporting an individual giving program with particular emphasis on prospect research and data analytics.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to manage idea-based conversations.
  • A critical thinker, highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Comfortable working with people in different time zones, from diverse cultural backgrounds and at all levels, including senior executives and board members.
  • Excellent Internet research and Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills required.
  • Proficiency with Raiser's Edge or other fundraising databases highly desired.
  • Enthusiasm for the global mission of the organization.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with rapidly shifting priorities.
  • Ability to take initiative and exhibit resourcefulness.

Reporting:
The Development Associate will report to the Director of Campaign and Individual Giving.
