Salzburg Global Seminar Today

Salzburg Global Seminar Today

Today, Salzburg Global Seminar is an independent, non-profit organization which challenges current and future leaders to shape a better world. Our multi-year programs aim to bridge divides, expand collaboration and transform systems.

Salzburg Global convenes outstanding talent across generations, cultures and sectors to inspire new thinking and action, connect local innovators with global resources, and foster lasting networks and partnerships for creative, just and sustainable change. Over 37,000 Fellows from more than 170 countries have come together through our work, with many rising to senior leadership positions.

For more than 70 years, our historic home at Schloss Leopoldskron in Salzburg, Austria
has enabled us to welcome all our Fellows in conditions of trust and openness and has been an instrumental part of our success in shaping new ideas and alliances.

Since purchasing Schloss Leopoldskron in 1959 and the neighboring Meierhof in 1973, Salzburg Global has been committed to the preservation and stewardship of Schloss Leopoldskron, the Meierhof, and the surrounding Schloss Park, all of which are protected Austrian national monuments.

Beginning in 2012, Salzburg Global Seminar’s leadership developed an innovative and enterprising approach to preserve Schloss Leopoldskron as a historic landmark and advance the organization’s mission and sustainability.

Over the past five years, through a mix of low-interest loans and charitable contributions, Salzburg Global has made significant investments in its program and conference facilities, including our historic Schloss Suites and Meierhof hotel rooms. As an integrated part of these investments, in 2014, Salzburg Global Seminar opened Hotel Schloss Leopoldskron.

Salzburg Global Seminar fully owns and operates Hotel Schloss Leopoldskron alongside its mission-driven programs. While the hotel’s largest client is Salzburg Global Seminar, its rooms and conference facilities – including 55 Meierhof Rooms and 12 historic Schloss Suites – are also available to outside guests. With its dramatic backdrop overlooking a small lake and the Austrian Alps, the award-winning Hotel Schloss Leopoldskron is a much-desired venue for conferences, retreats, weddings and special events.

Revenue generated through the Hotel supports the preservation and stewardship of Schloss Leopoldskron and the Meierhof, as well as the advancement of Salzburg Global Seminar’s not-for-profit mission. As we look to the future and build on this innovation and enterprise, our long-term financial sustainability and success will continue to rely on the generosity of our donors around the world. Their philanthropy – coupled with new investments to sustain our enterprise – is now more critical than ever.

To help our bold organization reach new heights, we have launched Inspiring Leadership: The Campaign for Salzburg Global Seminar, a three-year, $18-million fundraising effort that will propel our organization toward its next 70 years of impact. In today’s turbulent times, the world needs the kind of leadership we inspire. To find out how you can support the Campaign, please visit campaign.salzburgglobal.org.
