Lousewies van der Laan - "Trust Works Both Ways"

Former Dutch politician Lousewies van der Laan has revealed to Salzburg Global that the notion of restoring public trust is extremely relevant for Europe.

Ms van der Laan is hopeful of different countries learning from one another

Ms van der Laan was one of several European representatives at the recent session on 'Restoring the Public's Trust: Delivering on Public Policy Goals', hosted by Salzburg Global and The Volcker Alliance.

In our latest podcast, Ms van der Laan discusses her path into politics, how countries from around the world can exchange best practices, and the value of having these conversations at Salzburg Global Seminar.

Currently vice-president of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Party, Ms van der Laan has a wealth of experience in international politics.

As well as being former chef de cabinet of the president of the International Criminal Court, she has also been leader of the Dutch Democratic Party D66 in the Netherlands Parliament and was a member of the European Parliament.

She attended the Holocaust Education Planning Conference, as well as the Global Citizenship Programat the Salzburg Global Seminar. More recently, she also participated at the session on 'LGBT and Human Rights' held in June.
