Martin Inthamoussu

Arts manager, Uruguay

Martin is an expert in arts management and creative industries from Uruguay. As a professor, he teaches at Universities in Uruguay, Mexico, Spain, Canada, Colombia, Brazil, Chile, and Germany, as well as at private institutes in Latin America and Europe. He has published articles on dance theory and cultural access. For 9 years he worked for SODRE in Uruguay, the oldest cultural institution in the country dedicated to the development of audiences, the promotion of culture and art, artistic education, the development of traditions, and the pursuit of artistic excellence, taking its services to the whole country and beyond its borders. Within the institution, Inthamoussu has been commissioned to create the contemporary dance area of the National School of Dance, of which he is the founder. SODRE has also developed different programs that work on access to culture for citizens across the country. From 2020 to 2022 he served as President of SODRE in Uruguay generating their new business model for 2020-2025. As a cultural manager, he introduced innovative ideas and management models for festivals in Uruguay, where he created and directed the Montevideo Sitiada International Dance Festival from 2003 to 2018. He was a resident artist at the American Dance Festival, USA, in 2014. He was an international fellow at the International Society for the Performing Arts in 2018 and 2019. He is a graduate of the Devos Institute for Arts Managers for senior executives of arts management at the University of Maryland, USA. He graduated from the World Fellowship Program at Yale University, USA. He studied Cultural and Arts Management at New York University. He received the dance WEB Europe scholarship (2003 and 2004), Austria, and the SIWIC scholarship, Switzerland (2005). He has been awarded the Artistic Training and Creation Stimulus Fund granted by the Ministry of Education and Culture in Uruguay for the period 2012-2014. He holds a B.A. in Theater Studies from the University of Manchester, UK, an M.A. in Communication with an emphasis in Reception and Culture, and an M.B.A. from the Catholic University of Uruguay.
