Dr Hyobum Jang is Medical Officer responsible for long-term care at the Ageing and Health Unit, within the Department of Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and Ageing, WHO Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
Dr Jang is a public health physician and health system specialist. Before he joined the Ageing and Health unit in 2021, he had worked at WHO Headquarters, WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific and WHO country offices in Samoa and the South Pacific, having experiences in community-based primary health care, non-communicable diseases, climate change and health, sexual and reproductive health and rights and mostly recently healthy ageing. Prior to WHO, he worked on rural and community health with the Ministry of Health and Welfare of the Republic of Korea.
Dr Jang received his medical degree (M.D.) from Seoul National University College of Medicine (Seoul, Republic of Korea) and master's degree in public health (M.P.H) from Harvard School of Public Health (Boston, Massachusetts, USA).
