Jamile Camacho was born in Santiago Chile, she studied Medicine at Universidad de Concepción, then she made her Surgery Residence at Universidad de Chile. She worked at the Department of Surgery and Emergency Room of a public Hospital from 1987 until 1995. She completed her studies in Breast Oncology Surgery at Universidad Católica de Chile, and then went on to create the Breast Cancer Unit in Santiago's Eastern area, which she was Head from 1997 to 2006. She also works as a Surgical Oncologist at Clínica Alemana de Santiago since 1999 until now. She was Chief of that unit from 2012 to 2017. MA in Bioethics, with a focus in Age Health Discrimination. Diploma in teaching at Universidad de Chile. She is a member of the Chilean Society of Surgery and the only female President (2010), member of the Chilean Society of Mastology, member of the Latin American Federation of Surgery (F.E.L.A.C.) since November 2007, member since 2007 of Corporación Yo Mujer, an ONG that helps women with breast cancer and Professor of Surgery at Universidad del Desarrollo as well as a member of the Bioethics Committee at Clínica Alemana de Santiago.
