Gopalas Michailovskis is a researcher from Lithuania focused on cultural heritage studies and Romani studies. In 2020, he completed his master's degree in operatic singing at the Lithuanian Music and Theatre Academy. In the same year, he was awarded a scholarship at Central European University to complete the Roma Graduate Preparatory Program with the focus on cultural heritage studies. After graduation, Gopalas continued a master's degree program in cultural heritage studies at the same university. His research explores the patterns of antigypsyism in academia and policy interaction. Gopalas aims to challenge the dominant perception that heritage of Roma groups is only limited to folklore. His goal is to contribute to a more inclusive and accurate understanding of the heritage and culture of marginalized communities and to work towards a society where the rights and dignity prevail.
