Manuela Engelbert is public health officer working in the field of health protection at Birmingham City Council. Her work area focuses on facilitating and helping to manage disease, hazard or agent-related incidents together with multi-agency teams and facilitating a Health Protection Assurance Board. She also has experience in commissioning research and/or focus groups at a local authority level. Manuela graduated with a bachelor's degree in biomedical science from the University of Sheffield before completing a master of public health (MPH) at the same institution. Her MPH thesis focused on arsenic poisoning from rice and the cooking methods which can be used to reduce the negative impact on human health. Her research interests lie in global health policy and health systems, nutrition, health literacy and the built environment.
